Dr. Thomas Schell, DMD, Diplomate ABDSM
In his 30-plus years as a New Hampshire resident, Dr. Schell has built a solid reputation for giving back to the community. A long standing participant in the Give Back a Smile program which provides free dental services for victims of domestic violence. He is also a strong supporter of programs such as youth hockey and a volunteer supporter/underwriter for the Upper Valley Humane Society. A perpetual student he also enjoys teaching as an adjunct faculty member at the Dartmouth Medical School where he’s sponsored dental elective courses for medical students. Dr. Schell is most interested in complex restorative/prosthetic care, cosmetics and obstructive sleep apnea.
His educational degrees include honors and awards from Fairleigh Dickinson College of Dental Medicine, as well as a residency program through Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons. He has continued to further his education in the various specialties of Dental Sleep Medicine and prosthetics by attending numerous seminars and classes in this field. Dr. Schell has delivered a lecture at the annual meeting of the Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine in Seattle and was asked to represent the academy on a media tour in NYC. He has also lectured on the topic of dental sleep medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital and Mass General.
Dr. Schell is an avid artist in many mediums including ceramics, sculpture and painting, outdoor adventurer and naturalist. He brings a well-rounded and sensitive touch and eye for esthetics to his profession. When you visit the practice you can clearly see his love of nature, symmetry and beauty abound with many different pieces of art adorning the practice from paintings to sculptures. (Some he even painted himself!)
Dr. Schell lives in Meriden with his wife of 25+ years, Stephanie and their three wonderful children in an antique 1797 farm. Aside from working on the farm (they do their own haying) he enjoys spending his free time with his family, hiking in the mountains, biking and spending time in his studio throwing pottery on the wheel, doing sculpture in a variety of media including marble and painting with acrylic and oils. He also enjoys playing guitar and attending bluegrass festivals. They have 6 rescue cats, 1 dog, and lots of sheep, and cows.
