Crowns

A crown can restore a broken, cracked or decayed tooth to optimum function, appearance and durability. A crown usually lasts for years, depending on the health of the surrounding tissue. We have various options available for materials including porcelain, gold and combinations of the two. Dr. Schell and Dr. Noble will discuss with you their recommendation, based on your specific need.

Generally, our crown procedure is performed over two visits. On your first visit, we remove damaged tooth structure, rebuild the tooth with a bonded core filling material, and shape it for a proper fit. We then make a temporary acrylic restoration that fits on your tooth to protect it between visits. We also take impressions and photographs and send them to the dental lab where your crown will be made. A few weeks later, at your second visit, we replace the temporary crown with your custom crown, evaluate the fit, make any necessary adjustments, then permanently cement your new crown in place.
Implants

Replacing missing teeth allows patients to regain chewing function and improve appearance. One option for replacing teeth is implants.

In this state-of-the-art technique, a titanium root is surgically placed in the bone. Once healed, approximately three to six months later, we complete the restoration by adding a crown. The completed restoration is comfortable, functional and looks completely natural. This procedure is completed without compromising the adjacent teeth.
Bonded Fillings

This procedure is often used when fillings are required on front teeth. A composite resin material is color matched to your teeth, applied to bond with the enamel, and polished to blend in with your remaining tooth structure. The bonding procedure is completed in one visit and results in a natural looking restoration. This procedure is also referred to as composite veneers and can be used for cosmetic purposes as well.

Composite resin restorations for back teeth that are decayed, chipped or stained are also an excellent esthetic option for patients who do not want the look of silver in their mouth.
Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are thin layers of dental porcelain that are custom fitted and bonded to the front surface of your teeth. They have a glass-like translucency that closely mimics tooth enamel and creates a natural looking tooth surface. This material is very durable and stain resistant. Often used in cosmetic dentistry, porcelain veneers also protect the surface of damaged teeth that are cracked, chipped or worn and may eliminate the need for more extensive dental treatments later. You also receive the added benefit of a beautiful, bright smile.

Two visits are required. The first visit includes preparing your teeth to accept the porcelain veneers and taking impressions. Temporary veneers are also put in place. At your second visit, the temporary veneers will be removed and the tooth surface polished. The porcelain veneers will then be permanently bonded to your teeth.
