Overall Health – What We Do

Take Care of Your Teeth to Help Maintain Your Overall Health

Maintaining healthy teeth and gums are not only important for projecting a beautiful smile. Research continues to show that good oral health and health habits are essential to the wellbeing of your entire body.

In fact, according to the Mayo Clinic, poor oral health is often present in patients who have endocarditis (an infection of the inner lining of the heart), cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, Alzheimer’s disease and immune system disorders.

A dental cleaning, also known as prophylaxis, is recommended a minimum of two times each year. During this visit your hygienist will remove dental plaque and tartar from your teeth that has formed despite your normal brushing and flossing. Without regular dental cleanings, dental tartar can build and form under the gum line. This can lead to periodontal disease which can lead to other health issues.

The good news is that it only takes a few minutes a day to help maintain oral heath by flossing and brushing between visits to our office for your dental exam and cleaning.
